"How's India?

Many people questioned our decision to visit this country, some of the reasons were that the life here would be too challenging, that travelling by train would be not so good for people “like us” not so used to it, that the food will make us sick, that the streets were to dangerous and so on…

Even people from India tried to persuade us from travelling by train or to visit places like Varanasi, which was described to us as ” too difficult for us to experience because we weren’t ready for it”.

It kind of feels like the people outside India know close to nothing about the country and the people from India think foreigners can’t really handle much.

Yes of course this is a complicated country to visit, filled with people that struggle and life standerds that will make you incredibly sad. It’s also massive so a trip including multiple stop must be planned carefully, taking in consideration trains and busses routes.

Besides that India is such a surprising country to visit especially once you can alline yourself to it’s frequencies, a place filled with the most incredible people we have met in any of our travels.

We always felt safe and taken care off when we needed it, from random strangers that gave us a ride to kind hotel owners so proud of their state to show us incredible places covering all the expenses.

India is such a misunderstood country, often due to not many informations shared about it. After exploring it for more than two months we have definitely a more clear idea of what this country is about. And it has completely blown us away!

After visiting many other country in our travels this past few years we might not think that India has the best nature, that titol goes to Indonesia, or the best food, as Thailand will always win that competition, but what India will always beat every single other country we have visited is in hospitality, kindness, human and emotional experiences!

From the first moment we have landed here we just felt something was different, the welcoming was extremely warm. We just felt taken care of and safe like never before!

Can you imagine that in our only two months here we were given countless rides, we were offered food more times we could remember, given many many free tour and informations about places, being invited to at least 3 weddings, went on a road trip with our landlord for 3 weeks and being house guest of multiple people along the way!

Only thinking about all this incredible hospitality makes us tear up, it’s hardly impossible to believe it!

So next time people tell you that India is not safe or difficult to travel just take it lightly, because as much as there are many problems with this country and it’s hard on the soul to see so many people struggling the “safe” part it’s not really something you should be stressing about!
